Lascaux cave is in located in Lascaux, near Vezere Valley in France. The wonderful paintings are Paeleothic cave paintings and are mainly of large animals, the animals painted were once native to the region, and are known by fossils found in that area. Lots of the pictures are of horse/bull like animals.
Lascaux cave was discovered in 1940 by a teenage boy, he was 18 years old and called Marce Ravidat.
He later brought back 3 friends and their dog,beautiful pictures were first seen, in thousands of years. The four boys discovered an elaborate maze of paintings, made by our past ancestors. It was a very important discovery in the world's history and hopefully the Lascaux cave will never be forgotten again.
